Our Review

If you’re already an RBS current account holder then you can take advantage of their latest credit card offering, the YourPoints World credit card. This credit card offer not only rewards cardholders for spending but also comes with some fantastic, complimentary insurance benefits.

Who it’s for

The YourPoints World card is perfect for anyone who loves to spend or uses their credit card on a regular basis whether it is to pay for everyday purchases or utility bills. If you’re primarily looking to save money or transfer balances then the YourPoint’s card may not be your best bet. However, if you want to be rewarded for shopping, and can afford to pay off your balance at the end of the month then the RBS World card is definitely worth considering.

Eligibility

In order to be able to apply for the YourPoints card, you will need to be earning £20,000 or more per annum, live in the UK and be 18 years or older.

Balance transfers

The YourPoints card is not ideal if you want to transfer your balance from your current credit card provider. You can transfer a balance at 2.9% p.a. for 15 months. Although this may be better than your current interest rate, there are other credit cards on the market which offer 0% interest for the first 12-24 months and they will be a better option if you’re currently struggling with interest charges.

Purchases

RBS offer an introductory 0% p.a. interest rate on all purchases for the first 15 months. They also offer a 56 day interest free period so long as you pay off your balance in full at the end of each month. Effectively you could be rewarded for spending on your credit card without having to pay any interest on top. If, however, you can’t pay of your balance in full each month, RBS charge a reasonable 16.95% p.a. interest per annum.

Rewards

The RBS YourPoints World Card is really simply to use and collecting points is a breeze as you will automatically receive points every time you buy something on your credit card. The points can then be redeemed on anything from flights and holidays to shopping and spa breaks. The RBS YourPoints reward scheme is ultra flexible, and unlike other reward programs on the market, there are no restrictions on where you can collect points.

Cash advances

You can use your RBS YourPoints credit card to withdraw cash from cash machines around the globe. Unfortunately, RBS will charge a princely 27.95% p.a. in interest for the privilege of doing so.

Security & fraud protection

Security is second to none – whether you’re paying on the phone, over the counter or online, RBS have it covered, giving you peace of mind that your money is secure. All YourPoints World cards come with SecureCode technology that adds an extra level of security when you shop online. There’s also the option to sign up to RBS’s fraud text alert service which alerts you should the bank suspect any suspicious transactions.

The YourPoints World credit card also comes with some additional insurance benefits. Firstly, RBS offer a price match guarantee – if you find a product cheaper (by £40 or more) then they will refund you the difference so long as you make the claim within 90 days of purchase.

The bank also offer event ticket insurance whereby if you can’t use your ticket due to an accident or travel disruption, the bank will refund you the full amount. Credit card account holders can also get complimentary handbag and wallet insurance.

Conclusion

If you want a simple and easy to use reward credit card, then look no further than the RBS YourPoints card. Not only can you collect points on every single purchase but the account also comes with some excellent insurance benefits, making the YourPoints World card a must-have for any serious shopper.
