Our Review
A lot of credit cards try to lure you in with rewards programs. However, the NatWest YourPoints World credit card isn’t just a gimmicky rewards program. This credit card offers some great introductory deals including 13 months of 0% p.a. interest on balance transfers and 0% p.a. on purchases for 13 months. With a good ongoing interest rate after that, you will want to stick with the NatWest YourPoints card for the long haul. Of course, there is a catch to this nice program: you must already be a NatWest account holder.
Who it’s for
If you are happy with your NatWest account and want some great extra bonuses, then the NatWest YourPoints World card is for you. With this plan, you can save money on debt and your purchases plus get the nice perks too.
Eligibility
To be eligible, you must be an existing NatWest account customer, have an income of at least £10,000, be a UK resident, and be at least 18 years old.
Balance transfers
After opening your NatWest YourPoints World account, you have 3 months to transfer debts. You can transfer up to 95% of your credit limit. With 13 months at 0% p.a. on balance transfers, you stand to save a lot of money on your high-interest debts. Compared to other balance transfer credit cards, you can actually save some money in the actual transfer process because NatWest YourPoints charges 2.9% as opposed to the 3% industry standard. After 13 months, your remaining balance will revert up to the purchase rate.
Purchases
A major plus about the NatWest YourPoints World credit card is that you get 0% p.a. interest on purchases for 13 months too. After this period, you get a pretty good ongoing of 17.95% p.a.. This isn’t the best rate going, but it is by no means bad either! There is a grace period of up to 56 days for paying purchases so If you can pay your bills in full every month, then you won’t have to pay any interest on your purchases at all. Since this card gives you access to lots of bonuses like discounts and points for flights, vouchers, and other goodies, you may actually find yourself spending less.
Cash advances
It is no surprise that NatWest’s YourPoints World card doesn’t have such a good deal for cash advances. But, then again, almost no credit card is a good deal for withdrawing cash at an ATM. You will pay a withdrawal fee of 3% then 27.95% p.a., both of which are around about the industry standard. Keep in mind that there is no grace period for cash advances, so you will have to start paying interest immediately. This can be very risky if you are relying on the introductory deals because if you are late in paying your minimum amount due, then you will lose the deal.
Security & fraud protection
The NatWest YourPoints World credit card gives you all of the industry standard security and fraud protection to make your purchases safe. However, they also have some really unique technology to protect you from overspending and theft. With the “Best Price Cover”, you will be able to get refunds if you find a cheaper version of the exact same item. The price difference has to be at least £40 and doesn’t apply to all items (such as cars). With “Ticket Cover”, you will be refunded for tickets if you can’t use them for a specific reason. There are other great consumer protection features worth checking out too.
Conclusion
NatWest has a very good reputation for customer care. If you are already happy with your NatWest account, then you are probably going to be even happier with a NatWest YourPoints World credit card. Not only does this card give you great introductory deals, but also the ability to earn rewards as you spend.
