Highlights of the Co-op Bank Advantage Platinum card
Those seeking a higher value credit card may well consider this an option. The Co-operative Advantage Platinum has a high minimum credit limit and offers a good range of benefits. These include:

A low interest rate offer (check Quick Look for current rates) on purchases and balance transfers
No annual fee, a feature which is pretty standard these days and will remain a fixture with these cards
Will seek to match any current limit you have and will consider a limit to cover all your credit cards (if you have more than one)

Things to consider about the Co-op Bank Advantage Platinum card
If you?re looking for a Platinum card with plenty to offer and a good APR, then this is a competitive choice. But with such a crowded credit card market in the UK, you may be able to find a different offer that suits your circumstances better.

I have just been accepted for a Co-op Card, my friend however has been declined, the Co-op have invited him to appeal the decision, and have asked for an upto date copy of his Experian credit file to be sent along with the appeal letter. so can anyone shed any light on the following.

When they get a copy of his report will it not be the same as they saw when they did a search.

Also in the letter it mentions financial associates could be the cause of the declined application, I have seen his report and it is good and has no adverse entries, he has no associates listed on the report.

Finally are the Co-op any good for allowing appeals or are they just going through the motions.

Thanks in advance.

No, your friend can see more detail than Co-op can see. For example, things like quotation searches (for mortgages, etc), ID queries, unrecorded enquires, etc are not seen by credit card suppliers searching your file.

Also, like me, you may also have credit provided by your bank that is not reported to the CRA's because the account is being managed well.

Personally, I would NEVER send my own copy of my credit file to a lender.

I applied on line for the co-op card and asked for a balance transfer of £6000 to be done. I was accepted and my card arrived with a credit limit of £3000 and a letter advsing me if I wished a £6000 limit to send cc statements and proof of income wich I duly did. Meanwhile I did a balance transfer of the available £3000 (actually £2950 + £50 fee)for which I was charged £50(max). Checking on line a few days later I found my credit limit increased to £7500. I phoned up and transfered all the available balance to my egg card and said to the lad that did the transfer that it was a pity they had not agreed to my first request as this transfer was now costing 2x£50 . He asked me to hold for a minute and came back to tell me he had returned my original £50 fee so as to only charge me the once. FULL MARKS TO CO-OP. Not only did I finish up with £1500 more than I had requested but they also adjusted there fees in my favour.
A long but positive story on my part.

I applied for a Co-op credit card recently as recommended on this site. I applied on line and have not heard anything since. Has anyone else had a problem with the Co-op?

I'm with them at the moment on a nine month 0% deal. It took an unbelievable ten weeks between application (they had it and then lost it, sent it out again...) and balance transfer! They actually did two credit checks which I wasn't pleased about. I was phoning up and begging them to transfer the balance in the end but got absolutely nowhere. The credit limit was also pretty low in comparision to others. Wouldn't bother if I were you, although you're now in their system...
