Barclays Car Insurance
Barclays Car Insurance
Barclays Car Insurance is part of the big banking business of Barclays. The bonus of applying with this company is the fact that you are signing up with a trusted and reputable company that banks with all kinds of customers for many different reasons, but the downside is that they do not specialise and cater specifically to motor insurance customers. The website is large and provides a plethora of information that can be difficult to sift through when you are just looking for motor insurance, but they do provide a lot of options. The other problem with this type of insurance provider is the fact that you cannot receive an online quote, but instead have to go out of your way to call their quote line to speak directly with a representative. In fact, it?s very difficult to even find the car insurance section of the website, as most of the site is dedicated to online banking and banking services.
They do provide legal cover with their insurance and allow you to use a courtesy car, but you have to pay extra. If you are looking for a good deal it can sometimes be easy to get lost on a site like this.
You could save 10% if you choose to buy your car insurance online from Barclays. Offering up to 70% no claims discount, claims and legal advice 24 hours a day, repairs guaranteed for 3 years and an instant cover.
Fill in the online application form to obtain a quote for your car insurance, a premium will them be calculated for you, you then have the option to purchase the policy online and pay one lump sum or spread the payments monthly, you can also save the quote and return at a later date. Visit the Barclays website to find out more.

The premiums are quite high with Barclays car insurance, which I think is what you?d expect from a High Street Bank. If you do want to obtain a quote from Barclays online; make sure you check the qualifying criteria first. Barclays don?t make it clear on their website that you can?t obtain a quote online if you have claims or motoring convictions to declare, in fact you can easily go through the system and obtain a quote and wonder why there wasn?t anywhere to put the information. There are also other restrictions to check whether you can obtain a quote online for Barclays car insurance, so really it would probably be easier to call them for a quote anyhow.
The renewal notice arrived for my insurance group 11 car and much to my horror saw that the premium had increased by over £100 with Norwich Union Direct which I had previously found to be extremely cheap. I referred to the Which report which recommended various companies one of which was Barclays direct. Two of the companies refused to deal with the car because it does not have a Thatcham approved alarm, although it does have a 1993 factory fitted Mercedes alarm which functions well. Barclays was able to undercut the renewal premium and include fully comprehensive RAC cover and cover for all windows for the same price. The agent was helpful and enthusiastic without being too pushy. Consequently the car is now insured with Barclays which slightly upsets me since my opinion of the bank is pretty low.
I would certainly recommend Barclays especially for people without the Thatcham approved alarm system fitted on their cars.
Barclays arrange car insurance through Norwich Union and they offer all the features that you would expect from a major insurance provider.
They have a 24 hour accident recovery line, and they offer a courtesy car as long as you use an approved repairer. All repairs are guaranteed for three years and as an added bonus the car will be cleaned inside and out before it is returned to you.You can opt to extend your policy to cover legal expenses or you can incorporate a Personal Accident Plan.
The only downside is that you can't apply or get a quote online. You have to actually call Barclays which can be a bit of a hassle when there are other insurance providers offering online quotes.
