Five Tips for Lowering your Car Insurance Premium
Have you ever wonder why car insurance costs vary from one car insurance company to the other? This is due to the different type of computation factors that car insurance companies use to derive the car insurance cost. Based on the answers that you replied to the car insurance company, they will add or discount the cost before arriving at a final price for your car insurance. Thus, it is important for you to shop around first before you commit yourself to a particular car insurance company as different companies take a different view of the various high risk factors. We will look at some of the factors that car insurance companies take into considerations.
1. Having a clean driving record.
Without a doubt, car insurance cost would increase if you have been convicted of a driving conviction. Thus, it pays to be a safe driver so that unnecessary costs won't be incurred.
2. Adding additional drivers to the policy
By adding additional drivers to the policy, extra premiums will be added. Thus, do not add in drivers into the policy just because you think that this person might be using the car in the future. Consider carefully whether it is necessary to add this person into the policy.
3. The age and gender of the driver
If the driver is under the age of 25 the rate will mostly likely be fairly high. This is due to the lack of driving experience. Usually, you will need to have over three years driving to be quoted a lower rate. Also, a single male driver rates higher than a single female. This is because males are rated as a higher risk to car insurance companies.
4. Your credit report history.
Most car insurance companies take into account of your credit history. Paying your bills on time and maintaining a good credit history will allow you to enjoy lower car insurance cost.
5. Anti-theft alarm
Fix up an electronic central locking and alarm on your car. Discount could be given by insurance companies when you have anti-theft devices install in your car.

Just waiting for my renewal notice now (direct line)
Three cheers for direct line! they were cheapest for me too. by a long way.
£460 from them and tesco's, £850 or more (right up to £1900!!!) from ALL the other 10-15 companies i tried. i am 22, driving for 3 1/2 years, 3 points,1 year NCB, 1 theft claim. car is 1979 opel ascona 1.6s (should i have classic
car insurance?? is this cheaper?)
oh yeah, and AVOID ENDSLEIGH!
I need some advise,in car insurance i have not had much cars in my younger days about 3 cars since i was old enough to drive,i cant remember if they where insured in my name or not but im sure they where.
Anyway my first car was an old one and my first and went third party my second car was 1 yrs old and i cant remember if that was fully comp or not but anyway that was over 10yrs ago.
That got wriiten off no fault of my own but the driver behind me since then i have never needed a car just borrowed one from my parents which they paid a little extra on insurance for so i can drive.
I had a car of my own since last april and again i got car registered and insured through her and me as a driver to save on costs as why the hell pay a lot of money for insurance for a car that again was still old compared todays cars.
Well i sold that car and no longer have one right now but i am waiting for one to be ready for me which could be another week or so, now i dont know if to do the same again and reg the car on her name and insure and me as a driver or just have it all in my name?
I have been driving since 89 and touch wood never damaged or crashed into any one ,but never been insured in my own name, which does not help for building up a no claims bonus etc
Now would i be best to start now or is there no point i plan now to have a car much of the time now as i cant be without one when i did before and wondered if best to just insure and reg car on parents name,i have been doing it for many years now and have been ok and saved heaps on insurance.
The car of interest is group 16 and this maybe a little high and by what i have read on some websites etc a guy that was over 30 with no claims and clean record was about £500,well as i have not been a insured driver in my own name etc then i could be much more.
But i hate paying more to insurance than i should and i just wanted advise if there are things i should know when insuring cars under my parents name and also on my own name.
and also whats the best way to get the best deals,i know moneysaving espert has its search engines on finding a good price but it asks so many questions like excess amount i want to pay and where its parked etc does this make a big impact on price quoted.
If that guy was quoted about £500 for a good record and no claims and not sure how long ago it was that it cost him £500,then what price would i be starting from sratch,im 34 yrs old in a few days and to tell you the truth i am looking to pay much less that £500 if i can help it.
So any tips and advise on insuring a car would be cool
I suggest you go onto an insurance site - stick in your details and get a quote. It is illegal to use your mother or fathers name (or anyones) to insure your car - its called fronting and insurance companies are clamping down on this. its pretty easy to spot fronting cases - i.e. a sporty hatch insured by a 60 year old with a 20 or 30 something as a named driver. As you have been driving so long you quote shouldnt be that bad. it might be a little high the first year but after that it should come down a good bit. You should also try putting your mum down as the named driver - this may lower the premium. some insurance companies take into account if you have beena named driver on another policy without accidents or claims - and sometimes will give you a discount for this.
Got A Renewal Quote From Existing Insurance Broker (originally Found On Confused.com)
Checked Confused Again And Got Quote From Same Insurance Company With Same Details £63 Cheaper
When I Queried This - I Was Told That To Re-apply On Line Gives Me A Discount And Therefore Cheaper Than Just Renewing!
I did the same - re-applied on-line & it was cheaper, but as well as that, I did it through Quidco, & got another £65 off!
