Its4Me Car Insurance

Its4Me Car Insurance

Its4me Car Insurance is an Internet-only insurance broker that promises to offer extremely competitive quotes from the usual panel of insurance firms. Imports are prohibited but everything else is fair game; quotes range from average to the exceptionally cheap.
  • No claims discount protection

  • Legal cover
Its4me Car Insurance is yet another broker that promises to find the best price from the inevitable "panel of leading insurers". Limitations are reasonably few: you can't insure an import or a minibus, but everything else is fair enough. The quotation form is reasonably well designed and doesn't take too long to complete, and there's an "e-chat" button that promises to put you in touch with a human being for help - although the form is simple enough that we can't imagine you would need this feature. Prices can be particularly good with some of our quotes coming in at a few quid less than other sites.

Summary

Its4me is one of very few solely Internet based UK insurance companies; complete a short quotation form online and receive a quote that you can buy online using your credit or debit card for immediate cover. You can even print off your insurance certificate in most cases. If you are reluctant to give card details via the Internet you can complete the payment stage by telephone.

There is an extensive help section and if you are unable to find the answer to your question you can take advantage of their E-chat facility where you can talk to an advisor via email. Click below to get a quote now.

Like most people who insure their cars, we look around before deciding who we take our insurance out with. After all, we all want the same don't we, the best cover we can get for the minimum amount of money.

Due to my wifes job changing, we now required a second car, so we purchased a 1998 Polo. Another decision we made was to only insure this vehicle, third party fire and theft as it wasn't our main car.

My wife shopped around and eventually decided on Its4me, which she found on line. She had no insurance history therefore she had no, no claims bonuses. The price she obtained was the cheapest by far.

Nine months into the policy, whilst sitting in a queue at traffic lights, the car behind failed to stop, smashing our car in the rear forcing it into the car in front. Although all drivers walked away from the accident, my wife sustained whiplash and a mis-aligned pelvis.

We only had the name and telephone number of the person who caused the accident. Upon phoning him later he would not give his insurance details.

One phone call to Its4me and they sorted everything out.

By everything, I mean:-

1 They dealt with the other people involved in the accident
2 They offered us a courtesy car immediately
3 They arranged for someone to come down and assess the damage
4 They brought a courtesy car and took ours away for repair on a lowloader
5 Brought our car back on a lowloader
6 They arranged a solicitor (who arranged the physio for my wife)
7 Kept us informed throughout, phoned when they said they would.

All in all excellent service and still by far the cheapest when we renewed our policy with them again this year.

Its4Me are an on-line insurance company who once you have submitted all your relevant vehicle and personal information, search through their list of insurers to get you the best deal. You can pay monthly or all in one go.

I insured my 13yr old Micra with Its4Me back in October 2003 after shopping around for a good deal. I thought it was a good idea that you can complete all the forms on-line and even print off all the relevant documentation and cover note so be covered straight away, plus they also offered a nice low premium through the insurers 'Provident'.

At the beginning, all was good until I had to phone It's4Me customer services. I rang and was on hold...... for 40 minutes until someone picked up the phone to speak to me. Ok, they answered my question and amended my policy, but 40minutes on hold?!

The next problem was when it came to renewing my insurance. Again, I shopped around and found a much cheaper alternative. Its4Me sent me a letter detailing how much next years insurance would be. After falling off the sofa at their idea of a 'reduced' premium, I immediately rang them (then found that at 5:50pm Provident had gone home so Its4Me staff couldn't help me). Rang back the next day - again on hold for 20 minutes and I said I did not wish to renew. I was giving them over 3 weeks notice so did not expect it to be a problem. The person who took my call was quite huffy with me and said he'd pop notice of my no-claim in the post. This was at the beginning of October.

A few days later, I received a letter from them saying that they'd set up the direct debit already and as I'd cancelled my policy, they would be contacting the broker to claim back the outstanding balance of £326.00 - if the broker would not refund the money, they would contact me again. The scary thing is, the small print on the reverse of the policy says that they keep a copy of your credit card details so if you refuse to pay a penalty they can take the money out of your account anyway!

After a lot of phone calls and emails, I was informed that it was a standard letter sent out to all people and whilst it was a bit frightening, I should ignore it and they were in the process of getting the wording changed.

I am STILL having problems with Its4Me, as over 1 month later and they haven't sent me details of my 1 year of no-claims which my new insurance people require.

I do not know if my problem is 'Provident' or 'Its4Me' related but either way, please check all other insurers before using this company - they might save you money but the hassle might not be worth it.

I would not consider using Its4Me Car Insurance again due to the fact that the company are not exactly very consumer friendly. I asked for a quote for my Tigra off them after having been a customer of theirs for a while and they quoted me £200 dearer than Vauxhall Insurance, who have never had me on their computer before only my husband. Would I use them again? what do you think?
