Morgan Stanley Platinum Card

The Morgan Stanley Platinum Credit Card is one of the new American companies entering the UK credit card market. The Morgan Stanley Platinum credit card has one of the most rewarding cash back offers compared to other UK credit cards. The introductory offer of 2% cash back on everything that you buy using the card for the introductory period is one of the best cash back credit card offers around. Only American Express Blue credit card has an offer to rival Morgan Stanley for a generous amount of cash back.

The cash back offer from the platinum credit card will award you 2% in the introductory period and when the standard rate is applied you will receive 1% up to a spending level of £2,000 and 0.5% thereafter. This is slightly different to the American Express Blue credit card which offers 0.5% up to £2,000 and 1% thereafter.

The Morgan Stanley Credit card offers 0% on purchases and balance transfers fixed for 6 months from account opening - Got a balance to transfer? How about 0% for the first 6 months? On their own these benefits would be very competitive, combined with 2% cash back on everything you spend (up to £2,000) it's very exciting indeed.

In addition to these features you get the usual add-ons with any decent credit card, online fraud guarantee, Internet based account management, no annual fee and free travel insurance.

Morgan Stanley Platinum Card In Brief

  • 5.9% on balance transfers for life of balance, on balance transfers made before August 2005

  • 2% cash back up to 1st August 2005

  • 1% cash back standard (up to £2000 spend limit, 0.5% thereafter)

  • Online fraud guarantee

  • Manage your account online

  • Payment and card protection plans available

  • Free travel accident insurance

  • Free travel assistance

  • No annual fee

  • 15.9% typical APR variable

Morgan Stanley Platinum Card Summary

A fine offer from Morgan Stanley, with a very impressive cash back incentive. There is a 2% cash back offer up to 1st August 2005, reverting to a 1% standard cash back rate. Only American Express can rival this for cash back offers.

Great customer service anytime of the day or night. I worked abroad for a while and they forwarded my statements on with no fuss at all. Good rate, nice looking card :)

I have had my Morgan Stanley card for almost 5 years, making full repayment every month without fail since then, often of up to £2000 a time (work expenses). I have their bog standard black card and want them to upgrade to a platinum or gold card.

My salary is around £17k. Will they upgrade me on repayment history alone and without the need for a credit search? I'd rather wait and apply for another card in a few months time than have another now just for upgrading an account.

I applied for a Platinum card a couple of weeks ago. Was a little disappointed to have only recieved a credit limit of £1000, the card doesn't say platinum either.

6 years ago I had Natwest Mastercard and Visa cards with a 5 grand limit, But I didn't use them so they weren't re-issued after they expired (I have a letter to say that they were terminated). Could this have anything to do with my tiny MSDW limit.

Still trying to work out how to pass all my earnings through the MSDW card for the max. cashback bonus! (without buying stuff I don't need)

I've been with Morgan Stanley for 5 years, and the service has been excellent. You can pay by the web, automated phone call, or talk to one of the operators, who are always helpful.

The cashback scheme is also spot on, and some months they give double the cashback, which is between 1-2 percent, so providing you pay off your balance each month, they pay you for just using their card, and the cheque at the end is a nice present, which makes a good incentive to use the card for as many purchases as possible.

I got overcharged on holiday, and Morgan Stanley sorted it all out without fuss.

I took out a Morgan Stanley Credit Card a couple of years ago to take advantage of their interest free period for balance transfers. Bad move! I paid off the balance in full over a year ago and asked them to close my account . . . several times, but to no avail! They still keep sending me statements and a new card! I've written, and rung them but the just don't listen at all. I've even had a letter from them saying they WOULD close the account - followed a month later by another statement saying my account still had several thousand credit available on it!!!
This is very worrying.
