I've been with First Direct for over 3 years now and EVERY time I've called, I've always had a pleasant helpful person to speak to, and they've always been obliging to help me out, even when it's been my blotch-up. They offer competitive rates on their Bonus Savings, and give you £25 to join up. After banking with Barclays, I've NEVER looked back!
I've been with First Direct for 5 years now and I've been very happy with the service, never (so far) have I had any problems.
Some internet banking websites have restricted access hours, I thought I wouldn't need 24 hour access, but it has proved useful. I also really like that you can do transactions at HSBC branches - I'm not happy about posting cheques.
The people at the call centre have always been helpful, and pronounce my name correctly almost every time - thats really unusual!
I also have a free £250 overdraft, don't know if this is standard or not, but is useful.
From time to time they have offers, I took out insurance with them because of a money off offer.
Very pleased.
